Announcements for 2007/2008:

The Stringsong Mandolin Orchestra is enjoying a new season with some great changes!

We’d like to continue welcoming those of many levels who play various instruments and who enjoy the ensemble experience.  
 
The approach for the upcoming year will be a schedule that includes meeting approximately (we’ve some exceptions due to holidays) every 3 weeks, a total of 10 sessions between September 2007 and May 2008, with summers off except for performances. 
 
We’d like to expand our repertoire and offer a variety of experiences and opportunities for the group.
 
We are in the process of inviting 5 guest conductors to facilitate and share a variety of musical styles and experiences with the group.  Each conductor will lead sets of two sessions in a row and these would be held on Sunday afternoons from 1 – 3pm three weeks apart. The first half of each session will be a group lesson, lead by the conductor and the second half will be a jam. We’d plan for a break in the middle with refreshments (including wine by special request) for all to share.

Guests that have committed to participate thus far are John Dady, Maria Gillard, Allen Hopkins and Steve Greene .  

The guest conductors will be paid; sessions will be $10 each (an incredible bargain!) which will include the lesson, ensemble playing and music and/or materials that is distributed. We will ask people to commit for the year and pay annually ($100) or in two semi-annual ($50) payments.
 
We will continue to explore a number of musical genres including Klezmer, American Standard Songs, Early Music, Irish Music and Jazz.
