Music Through the Ages
A Fund in Memory of Dennis Monroe

 Mission

Dennis Monroe was a gifted musician and teacher who generously shared and inspired all who were privileged to know him.  Music Through the Ages, being founded as a living tribute to his memory, will endeavor to promote and support activities that further the creation, performance and teaching of music in the same spirit.

Currently, Music Through the Ages funding is maintained by the Rochester Area Community Foundation (RACF). Our affiliation with them enables our organization to participate as a member of a broad coalition of foundations, funding sources, and contacts in the Rochester area. Our immediate goal is to achieve a level of funding qualifying Music Through the Ages as a foundation which will enable RACF to invest fund income, maximizing value for our contributors and program sponsors.

Specifically, Music Through the Ages plans to:

Sponsor an annual concert, the Black Dog Fest, featuring primarily local musicians as our major fund raising event;

Maintain a website as a connection for musicians and audiences supporting Dennis’ vision of a collaborative musical community;

Offer grants and scholarships to individuals and groups, through an application process, in order to support the creative musical process in the form of workshops, lectures and residencies.
